Epson Perfection 2480 Limited Edition Scanner $79 after MIR

I'd been looking for a deal on this scanner for a few months, can't imagine a better price than this.

Right now at CompUSA's website the Epson Perfection 2480 Limited Edition Scanner is $179.99 - $100 REBATE + 1 penny shipping = $79 (plus tax where applicable.)

The online availability seems to fluctuate but it is showing available as I write this.

This is a very unique scanner in that it comes with 2 interchangable lids, one regular lid, and one with a built in photo feeder for scanning stacks of 4x6 pics or even business cards. I've been wanting to get this so I can scan in boxes of family photos. It's gotten good reviews on Amazon and Cnet.com.

You might be able to make this deal even better if your local store has them for pickup (mine didn't.) Staples has them online and instore for $149.99, so you could probably be able to get CompuUSA to pricematch it. With the rebate, it would only be $49.99. Next cheapest price I could find was $156 (Amazon) so I'm pretty happy. 🙂

Edited because coupon expired, still a good deal though! Rebate is good until 6/30.

crap! keeps on giving me some quantity error

good heads up though, anybody else get it to work?

OOS (Out of Stock) for On-Line...........JimmyK....the quantity error is because of this.

Your selected quantity for product number(s) 316365 exceeds current availability. We have automatically updated the quantity to the maximum we can deliver (shipping time may vary if quantity exceeds 1).
If you would like to order a larger quantity of item(s) 316365 , click here and fill in the form. A sales representative will contact you

BTW, there are none in the Seattle/Tacoma stores for pickup....and the %10 off code is on-line only.....

Site is not loading for me... This is super HOT if you can get this deal. Epson scanners are the shiznit. Edit: I finally got on the site and it says (Pick-Up Only) Not available for delivery. 🙁

Price match to staple is a NO GO. It show the scanner is in stock for one of the store but it will let me do the pick up.

Order one from CompUSSR good deal.

I'd suggest just keep trying. When I found this deal, it was pickup only. The next morning I checked again, and it was pickup/ online. At lunch later that day, it said pickup only again. Finally after dinner, I checked again, and it was pickup/ online again. Needless to say, this time I ordered it!

One story to share, I actually did go to my local CompUSA in hopes of doing the Staples PM. As it said on the site, they were out of stock (it's often wrong so I thought I'd check.) The guy that was helping me was NOT very helpful at all. First he tried to tell me that the 2480's they had in stock were the same thing (no doc feeder.) When I asked when they would get more in, his reply was "We aren't getting any more, they were a 'Limited Edition' and we can't order them either." Then he tried to sell me a different brand. I finally had to tell him "Look, this is the only model I want, if you can't get it, then I'll just have to buy it somewhere else, thanks anyway."

I think I'll still try to do the price match after it arrives.

That would be a real trick if you can get Staples to match a $100 rebate from another store!

I got that message originally, then clicked pick-up and none were found then clicked delivery again and it went through.

Seems like a really good deal since I do DVD slideshows and scan a lot of pictures for them. This will save me a lot of time and my arm from changing all the pictures. Thanks OP.

The rebate is from Epson not CompUSSR so I think it should be ok. I remember CompUSSR's rebate take forever to process.

I tried again and it is letting me order now. Does anyone know what the deal is with the slow document scans that people are talking about with this? How does this compare with an Epson 1200U photo scanner?

anyone know if this scanner has any problems scanning 3d objects?

scanners do not have lenses. They cannot focus, so they are pretty much calibrated to be able to scan items placed directly onto the glass surface, give or take a few mm. The scanner will be able to scan 3d objects, but it will be like you xerox'd it but in color. you will get no better detail than other scanners. this type of scanner can produce some good results if the object isnt too "tall." You can scan a coin for example, but not something complicated like one of those models of molecules. On the bright side, this is not one of those super thin scanners which only does flat objects.

the top is removable.

So, has anybody gotten a shipping confirmation on this yet? I ordered mine on the 11th and nothing yet, not even a hit on my credit card. At the time it did say it would take 7 to 10 business days to ship, but still.

I just picked up 2 of these at the local CompUSA in Dallas. They matched Staples price of $149.90, and AR, it cost $62 and change, sales tax included. Good price for this scanner.

I ordered mine last thrusday and the online status is still showing open called CS they told me I have to wait 7 to 10 days before they will ship the scanner out. So hopefully they will ship it out this week.
