Software is at above link

A friend of mine has used it and says it works. Just thought it would be nice to share with everyone where. If it's agaiinst Anandtech rule, I can take it down.

Just making sure, the purpose of this is to reset the chip on the cartridges to report full status after it's been run down, right?

Yes. Also handy if you want to refill the cart or if you want to use *all* the ink in the cart since the chip can sometimes think the cart is empty when there's still a little bit of ink left.

Yeah, I've heard that as much as 20% of the ink can be left when it displays empty.

Thanks a bunch.

Very interesting program. I was a little suspicious that it was a remote-access trojan, based on the "serve" name, but I Googled a bit, and I think I found the utils's homepage: http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

Looks reasonably legit to me, or at least as legit as any russian-authored tool designed to hack some peripheral attached to your computer. :) I don't have an Epson printer handy to try this out on, so I'm saving a copy for later. Thanks, OP.

I have a CX5200 and bought a reset device on ebay. I had refil kits already but apparently the ink for the CX5200 (C84) is different than other printers (even by epson). So, if I add it, supposedly it'll clog the heads and damage the printer. I thought the resetter was a paperweight.

So I bought some replacement carts and installed them when the ink was low, but, the printer wouldn't accept them. Long story short, I bought the wrong model replacements (doesn't that suck). But in the process I reset the original carts and they printed fine for quite a few more pages and you can still feel a lot of ink left in there.

It's quite annoying, the printer (CX5200) is buggy and often gets an error light on, have to power off/on printer which then proceeds to clean the heads. Ah well, no more epson printers for me.

Anybody tried this thing yet? It seems to be working for me. I have an Epson c84 and was wondering how to access the help file for this software?
