Epson c80 and c60

The C80 is a very fast printer but the text quality sucks a bit, as for the C60 I haven't seen one yet so I can't say anything 'bout it.

The advantage of the C70/C80 is that they use separate ink tanks, so probably will be cheaper to maintain than the C60.

I`ve the C70 printer which`s slightly slower then the C80 ,the print quality is excellent as for text quality well it can do laser type quality text so I`ve no complaints in either the text or image department.

🙂

I have a c80 and I love it. Looks cooler than the c60 in my opinion, not that that was the basis of my decision....well...now that I think about it...there was that ugly Lexmark that was supposably better...😉

<< I heard the epsons break down fast and drink ink like no other... True? >>

The only problem I`m aware of is that if you don`t use your Epson printer often the ink heads tend to clogg up(special cleaning cartridges may fix the problem) ,I had this happen on my old Epson 600 printer after 3 years of heavy use,as for the new range like the Cxx series well I`ve to see how it goes with my C70.

I would not say they drink like no other,I`ve read that when you buy an Epson printer some models have starter cartridges that are not as full of ink like the full replacements you buy, lucky my printer came with full ink cartridges.

🙂

I had an Epson stylus 850 for 3 years and it just died on me I think. Used it hard also and ran into the ink head problem known to happen to these. I had not heard of the cleaning cartridges though? This also happened to a friends 600 series Epson. I am going to have to look into cleaning carts. My printer did use a fair amount of ink also. Especially when I would turn it on and it would auto-clean the heads and suck down the ink. I am considering a Canon S300. They are cheap and suppose to be reliable. Good luck in your printer search. 🙂

I have had 3 Canon printers 2 multipasses and an s300 and after 6 months to a year then went wack, even my friends canon s300 went wack. I would reconsider about that if i were you. But maybe its just my luck. Thats why i decided to try epson.

wow ouch. had not heard that about them and Lexmark has bad XP drivers so I may be going back to Epson or with an HP also. Thanks for the heads up on that.

I have a C80 and like it.

Just make sure you print to it regularly or you'll find that you'll be cleaning the nozzles frequently. That is about my only complaint.

Text wise it is suitable enough for me.

Haven't replaced ink yet, but wouldn't you know it...all the colors appear to be running out at about the same rate so I'll have to replace them all at the same time anyways!

So what do you think ShynnSw33tx? Gonna go with the Epson c60 or c80? I was really leaning towards the Canon but now you have me nervous about them. I really need to get a new printer soon though. I have tried and tried to get this old Epson going again with no luck. I am almost to say forget it and get an HP locally because of there reputation and to have it NOW. I only have a WalMart close so I dont think I can find an Epson here 🙁. Let me know what your thinking about doing after your research.

sorry to hear that it didn't work herbage11 , but I tried some of the tricks on that page on a Lexmark and it works fine right now.

Haven't tried that in an Epson though.

I bought an epson c80 yesterday sweetest deal i could find at fry's electronics for $129.99 and then a $30 rebate. So for around $100 I got a printer that prints 20- ppm for black. And it is working so perfectly right now. I haven't printed photos yet... but am gonna soon. I am happy that I made this choice. You should tooo. I used to be fond of HPs... had 3 of them to be exact , but I print too many different types and sizes of papers that it gets jammed a lot because of the way the paper loads. But other than that Hps are my second choice.... Epson, Lexmark (only because of the way paper loads), HP, Canon and so on. Let me know on what you decide herbage.

Thanks for the update. I am leaning towards the Epson also but dont have a Frys here 🙁 so I will go to pricewatch and see what I can find. Thanks again for the insight sounds like you have had your fair share of printers.

By the way I forgot to ask. Did that Epson c60/c80 come with a cord? Or did you have to buy a parallel seperate? Also does it have USB connector also? thanks
