Can't get into the printer section at all. Staples says there is a Staples.com error and would you like to continue shopping.

Glad lots of AT'ers could get in on this Printer Deal. I received mine, it looks like new, and works new as well, just like the one I've been using for a few months.

When I posted this, I was wrong about what I pay for generic ink. I just ordered 15 (11 black, 4 color) yesterday, and the black was $2.00 each, the color was $4.25 each, with free shipping at 15 quantity (I use a lot?). Total was $39.00. I looked at Megatoners.com before I bought, and the same order would have been $45.92! Saved 15%!

If you don't need 15, perhaps an associate would share the order.

When I see a need for ink, I go to Flea-Bay, search for Seller "InkJetSupply" and go from there. That seller is always running Dutch Auctions which don't sell out. I have purchased from them 4 or 5 times. I always email them to ensure they will combine color/black from 2 separate auctions for free shipping, and the answer has always been yes. They ship quite quickly, also. Brands are MMC (black) & G & G (color), warranty is 12 months, but I haven't needed warranty yet. Pretty inexpensive either way!

I got in on this a few days ago. Ordered online and used a 10 off 40 coupon to bring my final price down to $42 delivered. Checked tonight and it is slated to be here tomorrow. Then I got to thinking... Where am I going to put this thing??? I already have two printers hooked up to my home machine and several just sitting around plus one at work... errrr :)

Anyway thanks for the great deal! One of my pastors got one ordered today so they are still available here and there!

OK, mine came in early today ahead of 1-22 ETA...( ink carts don,t seem that big to me but good enought)..I really looked it over good, inside and out and you would swear it was new..
Had to read a little to load the ink carts as they were staying on the far right side, never even loaded the software, pluged in usb and Xp said found new hardware Epson 880, went in printers and made it default and away she went...Seems to have all the setting you would ever want...Printed a page, very fast but poor quality on first one, cleaned and alignied heads, cut it down to 1/2 speed, still darn fast, quality up to good...ran some more test stuff to see how it was with pictures and stuff...
Think I,ll use this as main printer and just set up Cannon 5100 for pictures as it has special ink and does better, that was a big pain switching ink carts and re-zeroing for pictures all the time....also have 970Cse Hp, only thing I don,t like about that one, is it hesiatates for about 30 seconds before it prints, think the Hp`s will last longer, little more rugged design but big money when I bought and if you don,t refill the ink carts yourself the thing would put you in the poor house..
All in all, I,m real happy with this one and glad I bought it...

Update..Got the drivers from Epson`s website made for Xp also they have another, the only thing I noticed not working was the ink level...after you get the drivers installed you install another download for the ink level...everything should work better and its nice to have ink moniter...while looking for drivers I checked out Epiouns, seems like everybody body with these is very happy with them, very high ratings, loyal following...also plastic top on mine looks like new, everything looks like new...either they replaced it or nobody ever used this thing..think some of these maybe be new and they just want to make room for new models...

<< pluged in usb and Xp said found new hardware Epson 880, went in printers and made it default and away she went. >>

I don't like the XP built in printer drivers. They are totally stripped down and offer very little control of output, especially if you are printing photos. They are the epitome of dumbed down drivers which I hate. The actual Epson 880 driver is fantastic. I recommend loading the Epson driver.

PS -- I could be wrong about this, as I am basing this more on the lousy XP Epson 740 driver. I didn't even let XP load an 880 driver, instead going to Epson and downloading the latest Epson created driver.

Lousy XP printer drivers aren't the only problem, I also find the generic XP scanner drivers suck.

<< Dah! my Epson 880 came with a scratch in the smoke grey screen too! It was a slight one though. Other than that, everything was perfect and pristine. I got two brand new full packs of Epson ink. One was a black cartridge. The other was a color cartridge. These along were worth more than the 30 dollars I paid. >>

I got full cartridges too, although the shelf tag at one Staples said no cartridges were included at all, and the Staples site said it includes starter cartridges.

As for the scratch... mine had one too... running left to right on the top left of the smoked cover, and another slightly marred area like something had rubbed against it. The next day, I had a goo remover product on a soft cloth in my hand, after using it to remove some label adhesive from something else..and I wiped it on the Epson cover in a circular motion. Big mistake, as it left swirls in the smoked cover (I had forgotten that the same product melted a CD case when I tried it before!). I left the Epson alone until I could think (clearly) about it, and ended up digging out three products I had on hand, and polished the imperfections. I first tried Meguires Plastic Cleaner (to be followed by Meguires Plastic Polish), and that wasn't quite enough so I used Brasso on the bad spots (says on the can it works on plastic watch crystals), and followed it up with the other two and the cover looks nearly perfect now. I don't think I'd go spend much money to fix the scratch, but if you have any polish that says it works on plastic you might give it a try (if the scratch bothers you, as it did me).

Got mine yesterday, looks new. I checked it over inside and out, no marks on any surfaces and no wear marks on any of the rollers either.

Came with full sized ink cartridges. Going it to work to install it there. (Have decided to retire a Canon 600e)

Stevem627, try again, one of my pastors ordered on Weds and his was cancelled, so I had him try again on Thursday and it went thru.

very pleased with this deal!

$42 for a new/like new 880 is a great deal!

That`s a little tricky, you want to zero in your moniter, my Samsung came with a utility for that, then I got another to adjust the color of the printer to match what your getting on the screen...any Photo-Deluxe software should have that..
Remember these are only 4 color printers, you can still get real good pictures but the 6 color one`s can do a little better..

Does anyone know if this printer works faster in USB mode than in PP mode?

It seems to work pretty fast in USB mode, although I haven't tried PP.

It also appears to be back IN STOCK - I was just able to put one in my cart!
No more $10 rebate, but still a good deal.

<< fwfan what the heck are you talking about?
everyone should buy all those items?

why are you recommending people to buy epson cartridges for $25?
?

nevermind the tax cd and the sharpie....

but the ink cartridge is just unacceptable.

even if it is 'cause you dont' like the generic cartridges...
it would be a wiser investment to just purchase two... even if it's only for the cartridges in the second printer.
then you'd get both bw + color. that would make much more sense.

all in all, i don't believe in spending extra money to buy epson catridges... especially when generic ones are avaiable.

I read an interesting article on a printer support web site (darn it...can't find it right now...it was like printerreview.com or something), anyway, they had an article about how printer manufacturers are no longer allowed to say that 3rd party inks will void your warranty and you must use the manufacturer's ink. This violates anti-trust laws and is illegal. They then put it to the test and sent in printers for repair from each manufacterer, leaving the 3rd party ink in the printer. Not one printer was refused warranty work. The page also states that most 3rd party inks are a near exact duplicate of the manufacterer's ink, so don't worry about quality too much (they do warn however against shady web sites that sell refilled ink carts with watered down ink....buy from an established, well recommended site). I'll have to see if I can dig that article up.

How is everyones experience with megatoners...i placed an order and am still waiting...they sent me a simple email from an aol account stating order was on the way...not very professional. lets hope the quality of the ink is better tho. on another note, i printed some photographs that were taking by my very cheap samsung 880k(not even 1 megapixel) camera and they actually came out pretty good...some outdoor photos looked like they were taken with a regular cheap film camera....excellent!

I've ordered generic ink from www.tylermartin.com and it works well, shipped pretty quickly via USPS. They send order confirmation and invoice via email the two times I've ordered. $3.45 for black and 5.45 for color when I ordered, though their prices seem to change occasionally.

Megatoners was also recommended to me but I have not ordered from them yet.

I love this printer (got mine from a Dell deal a while ago). Liked it so much I bought this refurb for my parents instead of trying to refill their Lexmark, for which I couldn't find generic ink. Lexmark ink would have cost the same as this refurb Epson!

I got my order from Megatoners...apparently they shipped it to my billing address instead of my shipping address ( i dont live at my billing address ) I havent ran out of ink yet on my 880 so I haven't had a chance to try it out. Also, the rebate is no longer valid I think...but if it is, you could try going to the B&M store and asking for it, thats where I got mine. This printer is fantastic...but then again this is my first printer in 10 years hehe.
