Every Time I do bios update on my system voltage drops to 1.4v and won?t boot windows. I have to clear bios and pull the power off board for few minutes then boot back in bios raise voltage up 1.6 volt higher to get 1.5 v on board same problem with dim voltage also set at 1.8 and it only gets 1.688. Sent the first board back because I thought it was the mb problem. But second board did exactly same and with the same problem. So it has to be compatibility problem with my hardware. The last talk I had with Epox they wanted CPU stepping numbers and that?s as far as I have gotten so far. My system has 3700 cpu Amd / BFG GF 6800 O/c / Crucial ballistics 4000 2 x 512 MB / Enermax EG651P 522 W Max / WD 740 Raptor / WD 1200 Epox assures me am only one with this voltage problem if anyone else is having same problem with this board I would sure like to hear it with what components you are running maybe we can figure this out together I have done all Bios updates up to 9-16-04 with no changes. Hay let me know what you thank and Thank for you input

It would be a bit easier to comment if you would tell us what Epox board you have ......

But from your brief discription I'm going to guess that you have a
8KDA3J or 8KDA3+ A64 board, if so then NO You are not the only person with this problem..they are blowing smoke at you.

a couple quick searches turns up these comments.

here and here

without much fanfare Epox has released a new pcb revision 2. of this board.

have you tried flashing using the manual method ? or are you using the Alt/F2 method ?
use a boot floppy and put the bin file and awardflash on the floppy and flash from there.

AWDFLASH [Filename].bin /PY /WB /CC /CD /CP

aldamon has posted a link to a modified BIOS package for the 9/15 BIOS includes a new update bat file with the command line switches, and 1.8 Vcore setting

thread here.

the 9/15/2004 bios is now official and posted on the Epox site.

But this will happen today and I will post it. Thanks you. You same me a lot of time.

Osage That fix my cpu volt problem and less then .01 volt flux also it will increase all way to 1.8 volts this is awesome on cpu the only downside it didn?t fix dim voltage still stuck at 2.688 no mater what you set it at but I can live with that the cpu was most important thanks for posting that link it works great

hm... sounds like a problem someone else was having too...

they were having the 2.68 vdimm voltage thing as well

do you have performance mode on or off?

good deal jrey, glad it took care of that problem.
perhaps Epox will get around to giving us some more options in the next bios.
I'm going to get my Epox out of the box and flash it after a bit.

Thanks to your help I real pleased with this board just got throw testing my new voltage adj now 3700 is clock at 2831 -14 Celsius at 1.8v and it is at 1.8v for real. Wahoo happy camper still testing for stability I ran throw 3dmark03 and aqua mark twice each so far so good maybe over time epox or modder will fix our dim voltage it would give the new dfi land party board a good run for it money

Shimmishim it Just dent click last night but this morning I thought about what you wrote on performance mode On or Off and Yes it was On and Yes that was my restrictions to my dim voltage now this board is at 2.8 volts on mem as well as 1.8 volts on cpu and whopping 2815 mhz 11 x 256 and very stable with the help prometeia mach 1 at -34 f idle and according to pc wizard 2004 processor temp is -13 c this epox has turn out better then anticipated and extremely happy now. Thanks for your help and ideals and Osage link to moded Bios both of you guys have help me work out all my bugs with this board

I put a cpu in my board today and flashed to the new bios. I too used the mod bios that jrey used.

my voltages are much more stable so far. No dropping to 1.3V on a restart like it was before, and I have taken my clawhammer from 2000mhz to 2309mhz with 1.7V in the bios, NV system utility shows actual voltage as 1.696V with FAH running 100% load.

I'm using pretty weak air cooling at the moment so I don't think I'll go much higher on the voltage. Under 100% load I'm at 50C for cpu temp, and I really don't like it that hot. Time to upgrade my HSF.

as soon as I shut down FAH my voltage drops to 1.632 in NV sys utility, and temps drop to 33C at idle.

a big improvement IMHO...

Osage I was just about ready to send this board back for second time around the moded bios really change stability of this board when o/c it I am glad to see your testing with it also two weeks with epox support was kind of just a big run around. They really just wanted to replace it and not spend the time. They were trying to put blame on cpu even after told them this was the second mb that I have tried and with the same problem. Also I tested it with two diffent processors 3700 and 3200. Probably just got the wrong service tech, O Well its has all work out and am where I wanted to be with this mb. I did clock it down just a hair it was not stable after gaming in b.f.v for after a hour playing it booted out of the game and back to windows so now clock at 2805 -11 x 255 and extremely stable 2.5 hr playing battlefield Vietnam with no glitches. I was to say the lease just a little bit worry about putting moded bios on but very glad I did. Just didn?t want to loose the warranty if something went wrong but that is chance you take when o/c the system. Osage I hope everything works out for you. And thanks for your help
