I have an Antec case with 120mm fan. My video card fan is also loud - Radeon X800, along with the chipset fan. I stopped video card fan and what remains is the chipset fan. CPU and case fan is quiet.

Anyone knows a quiet chipset fan? This one is really too loud for me. Thanks!

I can't hear mine over my 80mm case fans and 7800GT card etc...

The Zalman NB-47J is a passive heatsink for the chipset, and it works pretty well (I'm using it now). I agree that the Epox chipset fan is rather loud.

Do you a passive one is good enough to cool it down? I don't intend to overclock.

Thanks!

Video Card Cooling Issue

I came across this comment at the Newegg reviews:

Other Thoughts: The 3 PCI-E 1x ports might come in handy sometime, but for now all they do is force the graphics card to reside right near the bottom of the case. This means that for most graphics cards the cooler will be facing the bottom of the case with only a few inches of room down there, so a lot of heat gets trapped there. However I was able to relieve this problem by simply removing some of the pci slot covers.

Any comments? I haven't built the thing yet, but the heat off of the video card would be a concern. Would a slot blower placed below the card be a good idea in light of this?

WhipperSnapper:It is not a problem,I have an Audigy 4 in 2nd PCI slot from bottom below my 7800GT OC card and it never gets hot, around 45c on idle my Leadtek 7800 and in high 50s at full load,I do have good cooling with case fans.

I would suggest you leave the nearest PCI slot next to the video card empty to help cooling.

hi, i recently bought a 9npa ultra, but my KB seldom functions, and i have some blue page. So i flash my bios with the newest official bios but it didn't change anything :(

My psu is a 20pin and Aida32 show me that the 12v is at 10.5v :| so i suppose that my psu isn't enough powerfull. But this Keyboard problem (that i saw it in diferent topic)

how this Kb problem is solved?

sorry for my bad english

sounds to me like you already know the answer. go ahead and get a new psu WITH the 24 pin connector. you'll need it anyway for a pci express video card as i'm sure you'll want to upgrade if you haven't already.

woah now that i see your system specs i have some more questions. is that your current overclock and it's working? maybe that is your problem, looks real high. what are your bios settings to achieve that? and your memory is that high too? is your video card a pci xpress, or what?

aida32 also shows my volts low. 12v is at 10.94. i don't think the program is correct. i wouldn't trust it.

no its my old overclock on Epox 9nda3+ :D (epox addict :p) Now i have the default settings, Btw i can't "browse" my Bios because my Kb is curently out of funtcion and that's my problem !!!!!!!!

X800 GTO² is a Pci-e card built by sapphire, it's like a 850XTPE underclocked :)

well since it's pci xpress, you need that extra 4 pins on your psu to power your video card. i'd say that's your problem, not your keyboard. keyboards are cheap anyway too.

Danaite: I would try a good PSU like the Fortron you are going to buy first, then if the keyboard still has problems try default speeds with no OC,if that does not fix it then a new keyboard is next option since they are real cheap.

My money is on the PSU.

I hope so. but i don't really understand this sentence "then a new keyboard is next option since they are real cheap"

Other way i'm running with default clocks, this overclocking were on epox 9nda3+ :)

So i will get my new psu tomorow or after tomorow. BTW i tryed to disable the full screen logo in the bios, because i've seen that can make troubleshoting with the KB but unfortunatly but it didn't change anything.

Mem did you already see this issue before? and how this issue was fixed?

the Kb isn't the only thing who make the issue, the mouse PS/2 too

kb and mouse ps/2 are blocked

I posted a few messages a few pages back about my motherboard woes. Well the replacement arrived and I am pleased to announce that everything detected/installed like it should. However, I did manage to blue screen it once and lock it up once. Both times, I was copying across a 10/100 network from another computer to an external usb2 drive hooked up to my pc. What's weird is that it was a 4.5GB file and when I tried it with a 1GB and a 3.2GB file and they both worked fine. In addition, I managed to copy the 4.5GB from the network to my local SATA drive fine and then from there to the USB2 drive fine. weird stuff.

This was on a fresh XP Pro SP2 slipstreamed install using nforce drivers v6.82 x16 and the Oct 18 Bios.

.....and It just locked up while updating my ipod. dammit.

FROZE during SATAII disk defragmentation although USB 2.0 was ENABLED (but not in use) in the BIOS.... Nothing wrong with my disk, nor XP, so I gotta think that it is related to the so-called "USB2" bug

This adds weight to my feeling that it's not just USB 2.0, but rather having 2 cores to the processor in disk intensive activities such as moving data from one harddrive to another or transferring data across the net or defragmentation of even non-USB drives.

Just to clarify, I wasn't using USB 2.0 for my net adapter when this happened nor was it involved in my disk, despite being Enabled in the BIOS. I feel like that Errata 123 (L2 cache bug for dual cores) is doing damage here..

Thoughts?

i need some other user feedback. i'm getting 3 different +12v readings. 10.94 from aida32, 10.4 from sisoft sandra lite, and 12.77 from speedfan. what does yours say? do you think these programs are wrong/crap?
