Epox EP-8RDA3+ multiplier problem

Hey Epoxtech or anyone else:

I am testing my new EP-8RDA3+ with a mobile 2400+ and am having some issues. It seems I can get the FSB all the way up to 215 with my Kingston 3200 ValueRam, but if I increase the multiplier above 8.5, regardless of FSB, the bios gives an overclocking error. This happens even with everything set to default (which is 133x13.5.) If I try anything above 8.5, the bios resets upon boot.

The only factor I can think of that may affect this is my HSF, which is an AMD retail that came off of a Duron 800, but my temps are never above 51c. (I have a SP-97 and fan on order which should arrive later today!)

I have flashed the bios to the one dated 2-12-04 and set to optimized settings, raised and lowered voltages and anything else I can think of.

Update: I installed my SP-97 and Thermaltake fan. Temps at 200x8.5 are holding at 37c. Still can't go over 8.5 multiplier, regardless of FSB or voltage.

Other than this multiplier problem, the board has been rock stable for almost a week, though I haven't stressed it yet do to heat concerns. It's much faster than my old EP-8k5A3+ and 1600+.

Please let me know what I should do.

Thanks,

RCraig

bump, I feel sorry for ya, but I don't think I can help, do a search for others who may have this same problem I guess.

Is 8.5 the lowest multiplier available?

EDIT: just found this, don't know if it applies to you or not (from the official epox 8rda+ thread):

WATCHOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just downloaded the new 4212 bios and got SCREWED! luckily im geek enough to ba able to save myself.. they included the wrong version of AWDFLASH!!! it will not work to update your BIOS... i had to get the previous release and get the AWDFLASHE.EXE file from it and copy it to the floppy disk where i had the 4212 bios... and then i had to run the utility alone and type in the exact name of the new bios .bin file...

Also, how come this thread is not a sticky at the top of the Motherboard forum?

so anyway, im using the 4212 bios now and things seem pretty smooth so far...
