Epox EP-4PCA3+ Opinions

Hi,
I am considering the above board for a 2.8c P4 , would like to overclock the cpu, I already have OCZ PC3500 memory and so want to use this with this board.
I am presently running a Barton 2500+ @2200mhz on an EPOX 8RDA3+ and have found it a great baord. The attraction of the EP-4PCA3+ is it's ide channels and highpoint raid controller , I think from the specs, it can support up to 12 hard drives.
Anyone got any advice on this?
Patrick

It's one of the best, and at the same time most slept-on 875P motherboards available. All the overclocking options you will ever need.

Well it's not a common choice but I felt compelled to give Epox a try. Great value i875 board and I gots myself one. 🙂 Very please with it so far. I would definatly recmmend it to you as the overclocking ability of the board is good and most new functions with the exception of Firewire. And yes you can have up to 12 hard drives which is just a crazy amount.

Good luck, it should meet your expectations.

Yes, good choice. 🙂

Im using 4pca3+ now. Very nice overclocker and stable w/my 2.8E presscott. It runs stable @ 3.5E w/ 1:1 500mhz.

The only issue I have w/epox boards (I owned a 4pda2 too) is the headache w/bios updates. I only found out through a message board that the only way to get around the "not award bios" error message if using the floppy disk option (magic bios for windows wouldnt work either - kept hanging up on final step and wouldnt update) is to press f2 and force it to update the bios!

I wrote back and forth to epox when I owned the 4pda2+ and they just kept sending me new bios chips. So I figured this problem would go away w/the 4pda3+. It didnt, but thankfully F2 worked. But did they say that anywhere? No. They left it up to the user to figure it out and the support people were clueless.

Ive always been a fan of epox and loved using the MVP3g2 for socket 7 and 4g4a for my first p4, thats why I stuck w/them when it came time to upgrade. But they need to get a clue if they want to keep my business. When they release a bios update, they need to test it and make sure it will update through windows, through a floppy disk and using the F2 option @ startup.
