Need more info, like the motherboard model, video card, memory stats (maker, type, size, number of sticks). Also does the FF appear right away or does it cycle through a series of codes then settles on FF?
If it goes right to FF then check to make sure your memory is seated properly. Some Epox boards require alot of pressure to completely seat the memory. You usually get a C1 error in this case, but I have heard of people just getting an FF.
If it cycles through other codes then check your video card. Make sure it is seated and try it in another computer if possible.

epox 8k7a

it just goes straight to FF, no beep, or memory error or nothing
just the fans, a red led with FF and and bright red light (led) from
the upper part of the motherboard.

its 256k memory 2100 ddr

how do i know the board isn't screwed up?

i tried 2 different processors and the same thing.

thanks

Clear the BIOS using the jumper and try it again. Going directly to FF on the display tells me that the BIOS startup code isn't being executed.

Ok, give us the details about your system. What parts do you have?

On my board, FF means it's done POST'ing and is handing control off to the operating system (I have an Asus A7V333-R which reads the codes out on a front display). So FF is what you're probably going to see when the board is fully operational too. Don't get anxious just because it says FF.

My suggestion is to take the board out of the case and lay it on the antistatic bag. Next, get a large hammer, and threaten the board with it a little. :D Now set the hammer down within view of the motherboard :D and plug in one memory module in the slot closest to the CPU, as well as your video card. Make sure the CPU fan or another RPM-signalling fan is plugged into the CPU FAN header so the board gets reassurance that yes, the CPU fan is running, I can continue POST'ing (some boards will not run if they don't see RPM input on the CPU FAN header). Plug in the ATX power connector and use the tip of a screwdriver to momentarily connect the two pins for the power switch, and see if you get video on your monitor at this point. Post back with your results on this.

It stands for 'freakin f*cked.'

Actually it should be fine. Mine says FF on it all the time and according to the manual, it means fully functional.

i was just reading some posts on another board regarding
epox boards, it supposedly an FF code on the screen does
mean that its working fine.

but it never posts, i never get video signal, or a working beep.

i read somewhere to try a different power supply, will try that today.

btw: the idea about threatning it is looking better and better by the minute.

thanks
