Maybe some of you have run across this before, and might be able to help.

I would like to set the hard drive to power down after 3-4 hrs of inactivity, which I set in the power tab in control panel. However this doesn't do anything.

I then went into the bios and changed the hdd powerdown from disabled to 15 min (since that was the max time) (On previous boards, the OS controlled APM not the bios, so it didn't matter what I had the bios set to)

So after setting the bios hdd power down to 15 min, the hdd would spin down, but would spin down according to the bios, not the OS's setting.

Do I need to change the APM type in the bios to allow the OS to control APM?

any help is always appreciated.

Thanks for the links.

Since I'm not physically in front of the computer right now, I'll have to wait to do some of the tests they suggest. But why would a new motherboard/bios be released without ACPI support? I would have assumed the MB supports ACPI and everything should be good. My 4 yr old epox board didn't have any problems.

Oh well, at the rate things are going with this board, and the response, or lack there of from tech support in trying to resolve my issues I'm beginning to wonder if I should have got something different.
