Epox 8KTA3 BIOS image error?

Jeff7

Lifer
I have an 8KTA3 board, and I downloaded the newly released BIOS from Epox's website. However, AWDflash reports that the checksum is incorrect, and that the file is not the original BIOS image. I've redownloaded it twice and it still gives this error. Is the original file on their servers corrupt?

I d/l'ed the bios (01/28/2002) just this morning and the flash went w/out a hitch... so it should be correct.

It was the 1st one listed on this page: Link

No errors or warnings? What was the BIOS checksum that it gave you before flashing? Mine was 9xxxh - can't remember offhand the x's, but it started with a 9 and ended with an h - which is not what the site says the checksum should be.

Jeff what OS you running, Hope you are doing this from DOS (not dos prompt in Win) or boot floppy for win 95/98 select no for cd support. (no drivers to be installed)

Mine worked fine also for 10-19-2001.
Thanks Radiohead, They must have just put that version up Since I dled the 10/19 only about aweek ago.

just an idea of something you might want to check/verify

some boards have a jumper that will "write protect" the bios chip (write protect needs to be off, or you cant flash the bios)

also ive seen a couple boards with a setting in bios to do the same thing (write protect the bios) if there is such a setting on your board make sure its disabled

No, this board has nothing like that; not that I've ever seen anyway. I've flashed the BIOS a few times already, but I never got a checksum error like this before flashing.

I ran into the same thing the other day, I had to go with a earlier version of the bios to get it to work. I think they have cleared up the problem though.
