Epox 8KHA+ & Win2kPro: extremely long shutdown time...

anyone else experience extremely long shutdown/restart times with this combo..? when restarting the system, win2k will go through the "saving settings" and "shutting down" messages, and then goes into that blank screen just before it would normally dump you into the text-based bootup screens... the problem is that that blank screen remains sometimes for 2-3 minutes before it actually restarts... the cursor is still visible on the screen at this time, and i've noticed that if i try to move it, it is VERY lagged and choppy... any ideas on where to begin...?

specs:
Epox 8KHA+
Athlon XP 1500+
512Mb Crucial ECC DDR CAS 2.5
Matrox g450 32Mb dual-head
Soundblaster Awe64
80 Maxtor 7200

any ideas...?

Very odd! I have similar specs as your rig ... 8KHA+, XP 1500+, 256 MB Crucial DDR (non-ECC, non-registered) and Win2K Pro..
I can't even think of why that would be happening...

think it might have something to do with the fact that i didn't install any of the drivers on the mobo cd...? is that something that should be done right after installing the OS, or can it be done at any point...?

I believe its cause ur using ECC. I have Win2k and Epox 8kha+ and have nothing but nightmares so I called tech support and they wanted to make sure I wasn't using Ecc. Just a thought.

hmm.. ok.. well, i *do* have an RMA on hold with crucial, so maybe i'll go ahead and swap it out and see what happens...

thanks for the input..
