Epox 8KHA+ Sound

Have heard the onboard sound is outstanding. Would like some input as to it's quality to help in deciding whether or not to purchase a sound card . If purchase a card it will be a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. If they are equal in quality then heck with the card.

I've heard the opposite... that the 8KHA+ sounds horrible. My 8KHA+ sounds ok to me. I also have another system with a SBLive and that system only sounds slightly better.

I must be getting old not being able to tell the difference... has anybody seen my hearing aid? 😀:|:Q:|😀

Well I have built a couple 8KHA+'s and the sound is not even close to either one of the cards, If you don't care that much about the sound it will get you by but that is it

that's what i heard too, i never owned one so i dunno for sure
i know some good built in sound card is Creative which you can
found on gigabyte mobo and c-media on some new mobo(asus, soyo, etc).

i guess if you just use a regular speaker w/subwoofer, not a fancy one,
it should be enough . but if you want to get a good speaker or install it on
your stereo system, then you should get a better one, sblive, audigy, turtle beach,
philips, hercules(i use hercules gtxp), it's all great you have to try it to see the difference.

I just sent back my K7S5A and ordered the Epox 8kha+. I believe they both have AC 97 sound but I'm not sure if they sound different. I was using a nice set of Altec-Lansings with the K7S5A AC97 onboard sound. I've never used a good sound card, so maybe I don't know how much better it could be, but to me, the onboard sound sounded really good. I don't play a lot of music. Mostly gaming (Quake 3 and Medal of Honor:Allied Assault). I think it depends on what you use it for and what you are used to. I've got kids asleep in the house, so I rarely crank it up, but for gaming it works for me.

Mine never sounded that great. It even had a screwed up sound port, I neede a 4 channel anyway SO I bout one of the c-media cards for dirt cheap and it sounds great.

Sound quality of the ac97 w/ my klipsches was horribly pathetic. It made my klipsches sound like 2 dollar nonamplified speakers. Saying the SBLive is only slightly better is totally wrong. The sound quality difference was like day and night for me.

The onboard sound on the Epox 8KHA+ is nowhere near the sound quality of good sound cards like Audigy,Santa Cruz etc, don`t forget the CPU usage will be much lower with a good sound card like Audigy,Santa Cruz etc especially in gaming.The best gaming sound card IMHO is the Audigy due to having the lowest CPU usage.

XP isn't finding the Epox sound hardware on my board. I have the latest 4 in 1 drivers and sound drivers installed, still no go.

My 8KHA+ sound sux. Put in a Hercules Muse XL - sounds great with a simple 4 speaker setup.
