Epox 8KHA+ rev2 and Crucial 512Mb ECC, yes or no?

Does this board have problems when running an ECC chip on it, or will it work ok...? I know the board does not specifically support the ECC functionality, but will it still run? thanks...

It should run the ECC, only if the motherboard supports Error Correction. There is no reason to use it unless you plan to make a server out of that system.

well, i have an extra stick of 512Mb PC2100 ECC from crucial, CAS 2.5, so i wanted to use what i've already got...

what i need to know is if this board does or does not support ECC chips on it... so you're basically just repeating my question back to me 🙂

8kha+ does not support ECC, but appears to run Crucial DDR with ECC chip just fine. I ordered 256mb of same in error, said to myself, "Self, WTF," and stuck it in. No problemo.

yeah (homer), actually, i just put that 512 on the board, and booted 'er up (without floppy and hard drives installed as of yet) just to see how far it would get. there were no post errors related to the memory, and it counted the memory just fine. i'm going to go ahead and try to install a system on this board/mem combo and see what happens.

It'll be fine, and you'll like it. I'd be disabling that *#* onboard sound before I even installed an OS. I got no joy out of that whatsoever.

Just to be on the safe side, you shouldn't get it, who knows..maybe that's why ppl are selling so much ECC ram on AT 😀

just an update for anyone who cares... the 512Mb ECC chip works just fine on the 8KHA+ board... perfectly stable... nice and smooth...
