I currently have 1x256mb Crucial PC2100 in my 8KHA+. I recently received 2 more as a gift. I've heard that if you run with all 3 dimms occupied that you can't use the aggressive memory settings I'm used to (CAS=2, etc).
First of all is this true? If so will this effect any bios settings other than my CAS setting and how much will they effect performance? I run my memory with the following settings:
1) System Performance: Turbo
2) DRAM Clock: 133 Mhz
3) DRAM Timing: Manual
4) SDRAM Cycle Length: 2
5) Bank Interleave: 4 Bank
6) DRAM Burst Lenght: 8
7) DRAM PreChrg to Act CMD: 2T
8) DRAM Act tp PreChrg CMD: 6T
9) DRAM Active to CMD: 2T
10) DRAM Queue Depth: 4 Level
11) DRAM Drive Strength: Auto (Default Auto is 4)
12) DRAM Command Rate: 1T
13) DCLKI/O Timing: Default
14) Fast R-W Turn Around: Enabled
15) Continuos DRAM Request: Enabled
Second should I try to get Crucial to let me trade those 2 in and pay the difference for a 512mb? I don't have a receipt as it was a gift but the boxes are unopened. Will the performance of 3x256mb be worse than 1x256mb and 1x512mb? Enough to warrant going after a 512mb?
Any other comments/suggestions? Thanks for any help.
