So I had my 8kha+ for about 2 years. One day I was messing with stuff and I forgot to plug the cpu fan back in = fried xp 1600+. So I decided to go ahead and buy a new nforce2 setup and sell the 8kha+ and memory to a friend. He got a xp 2000+ processor to go with it and now it's not booting. yesterday he said it got to the point where it was checking the ide drives and he said it froze. he tried to restart but nothing would come up. he tried the video card in another machine and it worked fine, but nothing will come up on screen yet. he's new with the board so he hasn't reset CMOS or anything like that. what could be the problem? did frying the 1600 when i had it kill the board? it tried to boot after I had fried the processor and I didnt realize it since it hadn't started smelling yet.

please help. i feel bad for selling him a dud board if the board was killed by me since I said it should work. Thanks for your help

I`ll get your thread started, did he check the jumpers on the drives? What PSU does he have and I would try clearing the CMOS ,you need to go through all the usual standard procedures like check all connections and cables are on right way etc.

Btw with that board look out for leaking(have like orange ,rusty residue on top of the big capacitors)or bulging capacitors around the CPU area,I`ve an Epox 8KHA+ and mine is 3 years old now with 10 bad caps(6 leaking, well they have finally stopped leaking and other 4 are bulging) and I`m thinking of replacing mine soon before it dies or starts giving me stability problems(great board, shame about leaky caps on mine).

My buddy Mem, always looking out for me :) Thanks Mem for your help. I stopped by to see what was the matter, and of course it boots right up, finding everything installed when I'm there. I guess I just have that touch, as long as you dont think about the "forgetting to plug the CPU fan in the header" thing.

Thanks again Mem for your assistance, you have helped me on more than one occasion.
