EPoX 8KHA+ DIMM 1 slot broken - can #2 be used?

Got a Newegg.com Refurb 8KHA+ for my WIN-98SE system. I think the board works 100%, but DIMM 1 RAM slot has one white slot latch that doesn't pop shut when the RAM is seated. The other end does. Repeated several times. I can seat the RAM very nicely, then move that clip to "shut" position, and everything runs. I suspect this is a Refurb returned by someone who REALLY made sure the RAM was seated during early 8KHA+ days. So - 3 questions:

(1) Should I worry, if the board works great despite this physical damage?
(2) Can I use another DIMM slot (1 stick of 256MB RAM), or If I try another slot, what symptoms might I expect to degrade?
(3) Are those white slot latches changeable (rob from a junk board and install in 8KHA+)?

Thanks in advance!

MiklosMillora: Thanks! I felt it was probably alright to use another slot, but I needed some confirmation.
