hello, i was wondering if anyone can help me.
I installed the board and on power up i hear the hard disk spin and some clicks then i see the LEDs give me C1, and the screen stays off. The manual says it is a memory problem.(or cache for Socket 7 Processors)

I am using 256MB 266MHz Kingston Memory. I reseated it but this did not help.
I got another 128MB 200MHz no-brand stick and this also gave me the same exact behaviour.

what do you think, a motherboard problem? thanks in advance.

(BTW i gave the 256 stick to a friend he will check it out in his comp for me)
 
There was a post like yours before and the guy reseated his ram about 20 times before it worked,you could try it in a different slot. Also check your 100/133 mhz FSB jumper on the board, by default it`s set at 100mhz FSB

It seems to be a common problem with the 8KHA+ mobo, it takes ALOT of pressure to seat the ram completely, when it finally CLICKS into place, you think you've broken your mobo. The tops of the contacts should end up being flush or just below the top of the ram slot.
 
I find it easier to install the ram out of case since you can use more force and have it under flat surface for 100% support so there`s no undue pressure like when it`s in the case only supported by standoffs etc ,btw my ram went in pretty easy.

Mine went in easy too, but I'm seeing alot of posts where it takes more than average pressure to seat it. I do like you do Mem, have the mobo out and on a flat surface on a piece of foam to seat the ram and cpu/hsf. Once you've seated it, it gets easier each time to seat it properly in that slot.
 
I had the same problem with a K BIOS board. If I disconnected the hard drive it would boot. Once I flashed the BIOS to 11/02 all the problems went away.
 
you may be right, i do not have the ram in my hands now to test this but if i did not clip it in properly how did the white retainers close well?
i thought if the white retainers close the module would be inserted right enough...... any way thanks i will be tring to reattach the memory on monday hopefully. if this does not work i lost the board.... i cannot change it because i bout it from another country while onholiday....thanks for your input and wish you all a nice year
 
I bought a 8kha+ board a few months back and had no problem with the memory then. Unfortunately I some how burned up the ATX connector (bad power supply or irregular power tot he house) so I replaced it this weekend ($99 at Fry's). I discovered the slots for the memory are different than my first board. I am now having the same C1 boot error and the memory gets EXTEREMELY HOT! I will try more force and see if it helps.

PS. Don't worry- I got a new PS (enermax 465) and a UPC. Won't burn this one up (i hope)!
 
As it turns out- the slots for the memory will actually let you lock the memory in place BACKWARDS! Be sure the groove in the memory is actually lining up correctly, don't just trust the slots like I did. Turned the memory around and they clicked into place easily.
