i believe that every athlon 64 newcastle chip has the same max overclock with the same heatsink/fan. so if you can get the FSB up to 280, then 9x280=2.52GHz. so that meens that even an athlon 64 2800 will max out with this board. you will have to run out of synch, but from what i have heard 1:1 isn't that important on the athlon 64. I just ordered this mobo and the 2800+ last night, so i will have overclocking results within the week. what is this about the Rev. 2 of this board? are all currently shipping board rev. 2? what does the revision change? how do you check to see if it is a Rev. 2?

I dont think so.

Max my cpu will do is 2.412 ghz @ 268 mhz FSB

Changing the ht, memory divider, or anything else has no effect and its not stable.

Hey Guys,

Check out the bios update Epox just posted. I will be flashing soon, maybe my voltage problem will go away.

yeah, deffinetly post and see what it fixed. i will be recieving those parts any day now (i live in hawaii and things are slow to get here) and i will make sure and find out once and for all how high this baby can go!

i updated my bios.. my voltage is more accurate with what I set it to in the bios now and voltage is easier to control .5 volt increments.

Nice! this board is becoming an even better overclocking option.

The question is slag, how high can you overclock with your revision 2 board with the lattest bios? try turning the hypertransport down, as well as the memory ratio and the cpu multiplier. Pump up that FSB!

Same overclock.

1.664 volts to the processor

ever other voltage reading is set to max, although at 2.8 volts to the memory, I'm only showing 2.704 on all monitors.

changing htt, switching between 5:4 and 3:2 has no affect. Max stable overclock I can reach is 268 mhz fsb which is 2412 mhz.

I might go pick up another $100.00 board locally today to see if its my board or what.

On a side note, I tried some pc4200 atlas ram and it was not even anywhere as fast as my pc3500 corsair bh-5 ram.

my board refuses to post above 295 fsb as well.

lowering the multipler requires me to have the memory at 3:2 and 290 fsb just to hit 409 mhz on my memory

its faster at 9x268 then 8x290

I will second that. 3:2 is not good option for Athlon 64 machines.

wait a second. you just said you achieved 295FSB? thats really good. that can take an athlon 64 2800+ to 2.655GHz!

at 8 clock multipler, not 9

the athlon 64 2800+ newcastle revision has a max of 9x multiplier. what i want to see is a 2800+ ($141) and this motherboard ($73) achieve an overclock of 2.6GHz.

you wont see that, its impossible.

this silicon wont do it.

Humm, Got this board, first 2 was rev. 1's, sent back to the egg on RMA, took 15 mins just to get into the BIOS... this third one is Rev. 2.2, wont even power on... sigh...guess I just got bad stock outa the egg.... still going on $90 on shipping on a $73 board... (live in FL. Newegg RMA is in Cali., fed-ex express saver isnt saving me nothing)

Yeah, Newegg isn't as good at customer service as they used to be. They charge restocking fees even on defective hardware (unless you talk them into doing an exchange) and you can't order over the phone, in order to, for example, make sure you get the right revision of your motherboard.

If I were you, I would probably try RMA-ing to Epox. I woulddo it too, but I am probably going to go with another brand entirely.

Having this many bad boards sounds more like something else may be causing your problem.

Yeah, my board isn't perfect, but it still runs fine. Just wish the voltage thing was more under control, but it is still very usable.

Well Ram is Corsair, HD is WD, vid card is a 6800nu, it all works great in other machienes, just not this one... Got the third and it wont even spin a fan.... The powersupply is good, tried 2 of them, am just going nuts now....

On a whim, I went to microcenter today and bought a sempron 3100+ retail and a chaintech znf3-250 value board and an 80 gig drive to play around and test some configs.

This should prove interesting to say the least....

BWahahahahaaaaa..

Hehe almost got that sempron...but decided against it due to the gimped cache, let me know how it turns out!
