I just put in this mobo and 512 of Geil 3500 ultra and my first boot with out doing any BIOS setting changes I have HEAVY video tearing in the bios boot up and when I get to the dest top. Thinking it was a ram compatability prob i changed to mushkin 2100 with same results. I'm using a Radeon 8500 and win 98 and only a modem in a PCI slot. Next I swap my vid card with a Radeon 7200 all tearing gone. So thinking some how I messed up my 8500 I put in my friends 8500 and all tearing is back. So Im forced to use the 7200 and scared to pony up the $ for the 9700 and have the tearing due to it is untolerable.

So just wondering if there is a compatbility issue with this mobo and the 8500 or what.

I did go into the bios and diable 8x support , even put the agp at 2x every differnt senerio I could think of and no help but i can max My FSB at 183 and get my 1.2 to a 1.490'sh with ultra timmings on the 7200 and is doesnt hiccup. But going back to a 7200 makes this upgade woth nothing.

I guess you are saying you overclocked the AGP and got video trouble. Yes that is something you have to worry about.

Is the video OK when not OCed?

Have you utdated to the latest VIA 4-in-1's, latest BIOS, and the latest ATI 8500 drivers? Hope you get this worked out. Peace.

Yes I let it do the live BIOS but it said all was up to date. And for the Radeons they are unified drivers so if im haveing the prob with the 8500's the same should be with the 7200's (one would think) but yes I have the newest and 4.43 via. I do stay on top of thoese things.

bigpig..

I am having the exact same problem with my 8500. I have been searching forums for 3 days looking for an answer. It occurs as soon as u start the pc and when in bios, so drivers have nothing to do with the problem. ive flashed both the bios on the mobo and the vid and it hasnt helped. a 8mb pci card works fine and a geforce2 mx agp works fine so i believe it to be a bug with the 8500. anyways a little bump and a call for help.

thanx

bigpig...

Epox 8K9A2+ and ATI Radeon 8500 64mb.

I have been emailing Epox tech support to see if they know of a solution. So far they tell me they have no reported problems with their 8500 and 8K9A2+ motherboard.

After 2 weeks of this hassel I found out that if you dont have this mobo with the lighted fan (which shows an update) then your goning to have issues. I just got my RMA board today and wow I have a lighted fan rounded cables and if you look at the BIOS (on the mobo) it has a #2 instead of 1. And even the Epox wont admit any flaws in the first board there was, due to all my problems are gone and I got an extra 12mhz out of the FSB(cant complain about that).
