I've been looking at the Epox EP-8K9A2+ with the 2600xp 333, anyone had any experience with it or heard anything? Sorta thinking of waiting to see if they come out with a 400a version...

According to here, they had this to say about the KT400:
The timing of the release of the nVidia nForce2 could not have been much better as VIA recently launched theirKT400, and I believe that it is fair to say that it was a major mistake of VIA to release such a flawed chipset. VIA is currently struggling with the DDR400 compatibility, so if nForce2 does a better job I twill give nVidia a quantum leap. Rumours are that VIA intend to release second edition of KT400 in January or February 2003, so this is nVidia?s great chance to break into the motherboard market.

So it looks like now is not the time to get this board.

Well I am using the 8K9A2+ right now and if this thing is flawed then their is nothing out their that can touch the KT400a, It just has the 2400+, I am just running it at 166 FSB with a Ti4200 video card and I don't see anything bad about this board yet, Super fast, Super stable, Not one lock-up or blue screen since I have been running it

i'm running the 8k9a2+ with a xp2200 @ 2.05ghz @1.75v. running very stable. had it up to 200fsb, but there's a hd data corruption issue at 200fsb and more. i'm running at 185fsb now. you could always wait for the kt400a, which sounds awesome, but that's another month or two of waiting. i, personally, am too impatient to wait. :D

I know how you feel, I was biding my time waiting for the prices to drop a little further, I was even considering the nforce 2 ep-8RDA+ board till I saw a test review between it and the 8K9A2+ and in the review is where they talked about the kt400a...now I have to wait all over again,,,,:(

Great board, but I think the nForce2 boards have the KT400 beat enough to either get a nForce2 board or wait for the KT400a

am running this board with a 2600......my only problem is with the "usb on board chip" enabled, the board wont boot past the raid detection screen......maybe some conflict between the two??......dont know....i have just left it disabled for now and have not had the time to look for an answer yet........(gotta be one some where)..........besides this "small" problem the board is very fast....temps are at 30/25 as we speak....full load running seti.....gotta wonder what the "a" chipset would improve.??

My link above ( in second post) compares the two mobo heads up. As bad as the 8k9a2+ with kt400 is, it still out performs the 8RDA+ by a slight margin ---and before anyone thinks that this is a flame against the nvidia nforce boards, it isn't as I was very close to going that route and think that they're a great board---I think that the kt400a will address the issues that seem to be cropping up with support for the whole kt400 chipset. Time will tell. I think I'm going to wait for it as this board will be a huge leap forward for me in terms of future possibilities because of the Raid, ata133, and serial ata on board.
