EPOX 8K7A REBOOT/RESTART PROBLEM

Epox 8k7a board, Athlon4 1.33ghz, 512mb crucial ddr, kyro II video, Windows XP b2600. The problem seems simple: When I go to restart, the system hangs; The monitor light turns yellow and stays that way. Windows does not come back up but just stays in this 'dead' mode. The computer remains powered on, but the OS does not come back to restart. All help is appreciated. Thank you. I have tried: repairing the installation using the Windows XP CD, as well as updating to the newest BIOS.

You have a Netgear FA311, FA312 or FA313 NIC in your system. For some reason newer Netgear cards and Via southbridges don't mix. I had the same problem, down to the last detail, on my Gigabyte GA-7DXR, and I have to replace the NIC now.. 🙁

But at least it's a $10-$20 problem, nothing monumental. Your mobo is fine, your NIC belongs in an Intel box. 🙂
