Epox 8K7A processor upgrade...

I'm putting together a pc for my dad for christmas using some old parts I had and adding a newer processor and memory. I had a 1.2 ghz tbird in a machine before with the epox 8k7a. I bought a 2000 xp processor with 256mb of pc2100 kingston ram. The onboard leds never change, they just stay at FF. I'm wondering if I need to flash the bios with the old processor in and then put the new one in, or am I possibly looking at a new board?

I tried reseating all connections, ram, video card. Tried a pci video card. Unplugged power from everything. Removed cmos battery, cleared cmos. Made sure all dips and jumpers are at default levels. Any help appreciated!

Did you try to use the old 1.2ghz processor, then update the motherboard BIOS to the latest, and check EPOX website for processor support? That should solve your problems with upgradability.

Yeah I checked Epox before I bought a processor. It supports up to a 2200 I believe. I've even seen posts on here for 2400 or I think a 2600 even. anyway...I don't have the 1.2 anymore...but I do have an old 1ghz...I wonder if that'll work.

Well...put my 1 ghz tbird in and she boots. Updated the BIOS. Put the other processor back in, and she doesn't work again. Fans spin, but no video or anything else. Is the processor bad? Or maybe just some other thing with the board I need to set? It was at default and nothing happened. Then I made it 133/12.5 with same symptoms. Any more help?
