Epox 8k7a : Major Problem

I just put together a new computer , an AMD 1600XP and a Epox 8k7a. When I pressed the power button , I get a series of beeps and there is nothing displayed on my monitor. I checked the LCD on the mb , and it says C1. Can anyone please tell me whats going on? I took out the ram and the cpu from this one and tried it on another board , and it worked fine. I really need help here , this computer is a gift for my nephew.
