Hello,

I'm having some weird problems with my 8K7A mobo - here's the full story that led up to the problem:

Last night I powered on the 8K7A for the first time, everything went fine and I checked the BIOS to monitor my CPU temperature. The temperature was slowly climbing to 120F, at which point the computer seemed to shut off - however the fans on the PSU were still turning but that was it. I turned it on again, and I could here the HD powering up, but after 5 seconds or so the system would shutdown, and of course nothing would appear on screen (with PSU fans still going). I have since refitted the waterblock on my CPU to make sure it was cooling properly, but now the system turns on fine (ie HD doesn't shut down, fans stay on) however nothing is appearing on screen. I have tested different video cards - 2 AGP and 1 PCI which hasn't worked. Also, as soon as I power up, the mobo shows a code of FF meaning everything is fine. Also, I have moved the jumper on my mobo to "CMOS reset" however I couldn't get the system to power on after that. Is it possible that my CPU is burned out? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is getting on my nerves.

EDIT: I have an Enermax 431W PSU, which works just fine. I've tried reseating the memory as well, but that didn't help. Also, printer has not been plugged in...

Thanks!

Your cpu may be dead. My epox showed FF when my cpu was dead. Can you try it in another comp?

Sadly I don't have a way of testing the CPU or the DDR memory on another board. I've been reading around on the AthlonMB forums and some people have had the same problem - it looks like I might have to RMA my board and/or CPU. Also, 120F (49C) isn't really that much from what I'm hearing, so the CPU may be alive yet. Also, how can I do a CMOS reset, since changing the jumper doesn't allow me to turn on the system?
