Epox 8k7a and Athlon XP 1600+...only 1.05 GHz?

The default setting for the chip on the motherboard is for it to run at 1.05 GHz--which, of course, isn't right. It should be 1.4. But when I go into the BIOS and change the CPU clock from 100 to 133 to boost it to 1.4 GHz, Windows loads sloooooow. It rans fairly normally after that, though. However, it still causes me to worry at what other incompatabilities may be happening. Any ideas? The chip was running at around 40 degrees C.

Thank you!!!

I just installed an 8k7a, and I had a similar problem. There's a jumper on the mobo which sets the processor for either 100 or 133MHz. (200 or 266) My 1.4 Gig Athlon was only running at like 1050, but the minute I switched the jumper, it posted at 1400. Look in the motherboard manual for the location of the jumper. Hope this answers your question.
