Epox 8k7a...AMD 1600+ XP?

Does anybody know if the 1.1 version BIOS will support the 1600+ XP processor? Or do I need the latest BIOS update? I'm building the system, but I don't have any earlier Athlons that I can plug in to upgrade it. I suppose I can run it down to a computer shop and borrow one real quick if that's what it takes. Thanks!
 
you will probably need a newer bios for everything to work right, especially for the motherboard to properly identify the chip


but.... there is a good chance that even with the old bios you will at least be able to boot the system (with the XP) and update the bios
