EPO? dvd drives are sensitive to the dvd. i tried a few of the cheap ones and just had them fail to read certain dvds. better off shellin out a bit more and gettin one that will truly read every dvd.

Burning software for a DVD-Rom?? I think you are confused this is not a writer... Does anyone know if this drive is a rebaged drive and if so who is the manufacturer??

not a rebadge, I think it's just an EPO (big in Taiwan, I think)

this is DVD-RAM ... *RAM* LOL, $18 for a dvd-r, not that OWULD be a hot deal. Heck, I'd drive across state lines for that!

This EPO drive is not very good. I had a few defective ones that won't read my CDRs or the minor scratched DVDs.

I just ordered the Lite-On LTR163 (from pricewatch+resellerratings), after recent quickie research.

For 16x quality, your best bets look like: Lite-On, Toshiba SD-M1612 or Pioneer (or rebadges). I think there is a new Lite-On LTR165 (on the Taiwan site), but I couldn't find any place selling it.
