very nice. Based on the fresh tire marks i suppose he did it in one shot?
very Ken Block-gymkhana feel to the way it was filmed.

Is e-brake drifting still the most popular method?

It appears that he only uses to e-brake to break the tires free of traction. I honestly didn't know it was done this way, thought it was just the dumping of the clutch to break free.

Even the worst drivers in the WRC would make this "driving" look like child's play...the only point of drifting is to rip through tires as fast as humanly possible.

There are different techniques. They usually have crazy power to break the tires loose on a whim, but 'powering over' is only one method, and AFAIK is more used to control the car during mid-drift.

Initiation requires weight transfer; the e-brake helps to encourage this. There's no ratchet/locking mech on their brake handle. It's basically just a primitive way to give some independent control over front/rear braking, like you'd have on a bike.

I liked the vid. Not the absolute 'prettiest' driving I've seen, but I can respect that it seemed unrehearsed and he was really getting on it; maximum speed rather than maximum sideways.

WRC it a totally different animal, as the 'drifting' is simply a result of trying to go as fast as possible in a low-traction environment. They're not trying to co around a turn sideways so much as they're trying not to smash into a tree and die.

If it doesn't have a hot chick with her tits flopping out of her top it's not an epic drift video.

impressed. Because there is only ONE set of black strips on the route. Ken Block and Gymkhana would have hundreds so they can get the 'nicest' shot. THis was rough, home made kinda feel to it. Fun. Im still watching all his other clips.

But gah! Drifting is car torture. Cant imagine an engine would handle that kind of abuse for very long.

I never really saw the point in drifting like this. Gymkhana videos are usually fun because it's not a track situation, it feels open ended. These A to B drifting videos make me ask why you would want to. You got to the end slower but made it look like you were faster? Is that not the definition of rice?

meh. sure he has skills, but I prefer to see a fast rally type hill climb over a slow(er) drifting around corners

Think of F1 as a guy who paints pictures that looks like photos, and stuff like this as weird-looking Picassos. ;)

I'm not a big drifting guy and think as a concept for a 'sport' it's pretty dumb. But sliding sideways through a windy forest road is definitely a bit of an art form that I can appreciate.

Re: engine torture...it's a lot of high revving, but spinning tires means the load stays down. LSD's and and clutches are probably what's getting boned the most. And trans/driveline in general...but mostly frictional stuff.
