TN panel 🙁 booo

So is every single laptop panel out there, save for the HP DreamColors in their business line, IIRC. Regardless, check the NotebookCheck review I linked earlier - the panel is absolutely excellent (beats the pants off the Sony Vaio Z and Macbook Pro 13, and that's saying something).

I checked the envy out at Fry's last weekend. It looked kinda dull and the display models felt like a toaster oven they were so hot. I told the sales person and they said yeah the envy's run hot. I said no thanks. I had my eyes on the Asus G73 at Best Buy for $1199 and when I finally looked at it I realized I didn't want to lug around that beast. Went to Fry's and that's when I saw the Acer Timeline X. It is ultra lightweight and small and has amazing specs for the price. An i5 460 paired with a 5650 1gb videocard. It was $829 at Frys but they price matched amazon so I picked it up for $799 plus tax. The screen looks good to me. Overall I'm very happy.

Everyone bashes Acer, but they have improved a lot in the last 5 years. Timeline series are nothing like the Acer of old. They look good, they feel good, very sturdy and pack impressive specs for the price. I have 1830t coming in today.

The first gen Envy 17s run hot. As far as I know the 14 hasnt had heating problem I know mine has barely even gotten warm after hours of gaming overclocked.

Btw the Asus G73 at Best Buy is a gimped version. Its cheaper cause they cut out a bunch of things.
