“According to the strictest interpretation of this, jumpy-jumps and everything else would be subject to environmental review if this ruling stands,” said lawyer Robert Howard, who represented the La Jolla Community Fireworks Foundation

Even before the judge’s ruling was finalized, Chula Vista officials on Thursday pulled the plug on their July Fourth show

Nobody is really in favor of a filthy environment, but to require a full environmental impact study, costing thousands of dollars, before putting on a fireworks show?

Has the need for a Blue Ribbon Task Force study of the 4th of July celebration impact on the environment actually superseded the actual celebration of the 4th of July?

The construction of power lines and wifi towers have been successfully scuttled over here because the completely unsubstantiated assertion that they cause brain cancer. Since fireworks are actually more dangerous than that it makes perfect sense those would also be banned.
