Yes.

Romulans are offshoots of Vulcan's violent past.

There is one more relation and that is the Rigellians.

Yeah, I've noticed that the Xvid HDTV rips (when they first started doing them) were uber-jerky and really almost unwatchable. The quality was pretty good though.

Now they're getting better at it, but there's still an element of slight jerkiness there throughout. I mean, is it really that hard??

It literally takes weeks of reading and learning to encode raw TP or TS files (unencoded digital TV) into something useable. There's not some program that does it for you. There's like 5 different programs, with thousands of settings between them.

I have an HDTV card, but I rarely record anything, since 30 minutes of show is about 4 GB, and I have no means of compressing it.

So yes, it's really that hard.

Very good this season. I hope they keep Enterprise around for a couple more seasons. I want to see the start of the Romulan war.

Romulan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The Romulans, a fictional race in the Star Trek universe, are descended from Vulcans and are characterized as being deceitful, cunning, and treacherous. They are the principle species of the Romulan Star Empire, one of the larger empires in the Beta Quadrant of the Milky Way galaxy.

As the original Star Trek series was written during the Cold War, the Romulans were written to resemble the opinion of the Americans of that time towards the Soviet government and made their first appearance in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "Balance of Terror" (such as in the superpower stances of the USSR and USA with their nuclear weaponry). The Russian Empire was said to be the Third Rome, the culture which the Romulans emulate the most, in their lineage going back to Romulus and Remus.

The Romulan war may be seen in the upcoming plans for the movie. 🙂

that sucks can't really show a war in a movie imagin trying to compress the dominion war into one movie

I finally saw it (had to download since I dont have a UPN station to watch it on) and dont want to mess with anything less than a HDTV rip. That said I would hate for this show to get cancelled now, its really starting to take off. I forsee a multi-year romulan war like the dominion war (IMO the highlight of all trek...as far as stories go). I hope it sticks around and I would love to watch but I dont get a UPN signal so Im kinda screwed for now (voom has been rumored to be adding all the networks HD feed in march next year when they add 40 new HD channels).

I just saw this episode (despite already commenting in this thread) and I'm amazed. They opened up so many areas of interest that it would be a horrible shame to have this series cancelled now.

We need to all email/mail/donate to UPN and tell them to keep Enterprise going or I will be sad.

Though, I will admit, I was thrilled with all the seasons so far. And, I've seen 99% of all Star Trek (all series) episodes.

finally saw it and its another sweet eps🙂 thats 9 in a row of sweetness! f*cking amazing🙂

but wheres the HR HDTV rips? the 700mb? they seemed to stop appearing after eps 7? or so🙁 lost still gets HR hdtv rips.. (no i don't know what the HR stands for either)

I download the LOL group HDTV rips. They're about 350 MB each, and the quality is really excellent. I have to wonder how much better the 700 MB files could be, unless they're 720p or 1080i.

Does the HR stand for "high resolution"? If so, well, I can see how they'd be better.

well the 350's are good, but they aren't without compression artifacts. ok i checked, the hr enterprises are 960x528 to the normal lol's 624x352 so yea, thats a decent resolution difference🙂

yeah I miss them too they looked great even on my SDTV (alot better than the 350mb) I ususally used the HR.HDTV ones as the ones i'll keep but I haven't seen them either.

I have episode 1 in a different format, but I think it includes AC3.

Has anyone tried the 350MB files in a Philips DVP642... not sure if it'll play 'em. The 1st one I tried said invalid resolution and then I've watched the rest on my pc.

In TNG, there are episodes where Spock is working underground on Romulus, to help teach Romulans logic as a way towards Reunification. Romulans are actually distant cousins of Vulcans.

i just spent the weekend catching up on Enterprise. i missed the last five episodes, so that's 4x05 - 4x09 over the weekend.

and i think it's awesome! first of all, the storyline is just great, the tie-ins to canon are very well respected and sprinkled here and there. the story telling is a lot better than before (maybe because of the new writers who i heard are well known ST novel writers? i'm not sure). but most of all, i like this 2-3 episodes story arc type a lot better than the season-long story arc like with the Xindi last season, although even that i thought was an improvement to season 1 and 2. this reminds me a lot of the ST-DS9 in the last 2-3 seasons with the dominion war. very cool stuff.

in short, i'm very happy that it's started to take off. i'm very impressed, and if it continues this way i wouldn't want it to get cancelled soon.

dominion war could have been in a few episodes

there were only a few battle episodes per season and mostly filler ones with a bunch of dialogue on the station. I think the reason was a limited SFX budget. Much more expensive to CGI battles than reuse sound stages.
