Same here. Some of my favorite bands are Christian: Zao, King's X, Tourniquet, Extol, heck, I even like a couple Newsboys songs.

I also like Mandy Moore (and not only cause she's hot... she has a nice voice) and I like a few of the songs off the Moulin Rouge soundtrack (especially Ewan MacGregors's version of "Your Song.")

EDIT: I also am a fan of Barry Manilow, Enya, and Toby Keith. I wouldn't exactly say I'm embarassed about any of these, but they do seem very incongruous when you take into account the fact that 90% of all the music I listen to can be categorized as "Death Metal."

Dayam, Jzero's got some stones. There are some things you don't even joke about. ;)

I have a near-complete Billy Joel collection.

In addition to my collection of mostly rock and metal, I have a sizable collection of classical music. I like many Beethoven pieces, and some things by Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich (sp?), Bach, Rachmaninov, and others; all of my friends except one think that this is very weird.

Edit: forgot my strange dislikes. I don't care for most Led Zeppelin songs, and I can't stand Jimi Hendrix.

I've spent many years working for JOURNEY. :D
And I was there when the guys from KORN and OrGY were hanging around backstage, gushing how much they used to listen to the "old Albums" and how much they loved JOURNEY....

anyone who is afraid to admit that they like a type of music needs a big dose of self-assuredness and self-respect. I listen to what I like. I even like George Michael tracks.

Probably the most embarrasing thing about my musical tastes are that I like both the BeeGees (RIP Maurice) and Elton John. They both have amazing vocal and songwriting talent. Mostly, however, I listen to a mix of '80s and 90's new wave and light rock, along with some techno/trance. Right now, Deeper In Zen's "Anticipate" is playing on Winamp..

I freely admit to liking Avril Levigne's songs, I will also admit to liking Shakira, her Spanish stuff though.

The one someone might give me poop for is the Indigo Girls "Closer to fine" really catchy song. A female friend's band used to cover it.

I really like "Time To Say Goodbye" as done by Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli. Not sure why, since it sounds soooo Andrew Lloyd Weber, and I hate everything he does and stands for.

Sarah Brightman is Mrs Andrew Lloyd Weber.....
