The Republican ends up resigning, the Democrats just keep on getting re-elected.

You do know that that sentiment gets you what you ask for - the current removed and replaced by worse.

As anticipated, today Gov Brian Sandoval announced that he was appointing current US Rep Dean Heller to fill disgraced Sen John Ensign's seat.

This move will cause CD2 to have a special election which will easily run to several hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Brian Sandoval: a governor who guts education funding in the worst-ranked state, cuts employee pay and enacts layoffs in the 2nd smallest state gov't in the nation (proportionally), vetoes all tax increases/revenue growth, and now hands out political favors at the expense of an already financially decimated populace. Good job!
