Enough with the free "gimmicks"

You will notice that several "free" items are posted by a certain individual within 1 minute of each other. Most of these are useless trinkets that take up valuable space and are an obvious attempt to get more posts. Certain people offer concise well organaized deals such as Ranger X, and posts them sensibly. Others however, may have a more sinister purpose.

Mods please take notice.

why don't you contribute something instead of complaining and let the mods take care of what's inappropriate

"Freebies" are a scam to get your name, address, & phone #. I've never received any "freebie" from one of these scam sites. Avoid them... all they are is trouble... make that T-rouble with a capital "T".

I do not mind sending off for a free t-shirt to a well-known name like 3Com, but I refuse to give my name to anyone else. I read that submitting your name, address, phone number, etc, can get tied to a cookie for tracking purposes. FORGET THAT!

As long as the title correctly reflects what's in the post, they're okay by me.

Furthermore I've received all sorts of free stuff, some worthless, some nice. I kinda like it when the postman has a surprise for me. Another t-shirt, a turkey thermometer, whatever. If I can't use it, there's a trashcan right besides my desk. No big deal.

If you don't like it, don't read the post. And if you aren't using a spam-address, you deserve the spam.

Much less, what the heck is someone with the name FREE BEE Doing complaining about free stuff?

POT = KETTLE = BLACK

It appears that Anandtech's competitors may be sabotaging this hot deal board with too many goofy free trinkets that aren't even worth the time to sort through. The titles should say "Cheap worthless crap for free = cold deal"

I've seen a few other deal websites where posts are all similar scam-bait and I quickly hit the back button. As these posts go up the traffic will decline. I'll bet a "FREE faux fur bear key chain" on it.

Too bad when someone posts something of real value for free it will get overlooked with all the the other crap.

Same with me, I ONLY give my info to companies I've heard of (3com, Fuji and the like)

Which reminds me; I need to unsubscribe from that Lesbo porn email subscription for that forum account to get info on getting access to FTP sites that offer free...

I digress.

Some of the free stuff is good, like t-shirts, but lets face it some is useless. FREE DOG TREAT,FREE COLOGNE SAMPLE,FREE EXCEDRINE SAMPLE one was for a FREE TAMPON. We all know alot of places will give samples of thier items so why post them.
I want see FREE CDRWs,FREE SURROUND SOUND SYSTEMS not FREE TAMPON MAXI PADS. Just my 2 cents.

I still think freebies should be kept in a single thread or different forum. Freebies are beginning to overwhelm this forum.

well, just an observation here...
there is an iwanna thread. people get flamed to death for posting "i want..." outside of that thread.
~~freebies~~ thread?

there truly is a big difference between hot deals and free trinkets. now, if you are saying free, no strings attached, usually 50 bucks, 3com NIC.. then that deserves its own thread (or so it seems). I dunno. fine line.
free flashlight/safety glasses out in the open for my instant gratification... or put up in a convenient thread along side free doggy treat (not treats), and freaky glow in the dark coaster.
