Plus I have a dual Layer DVD +/- R drive that I will be adding. And the case will be an antec p180(looks like an awesome case) Keep in mind this is mostly a workstation, compiling and encoding (ogg, mp3, and dvd-r ) with some gaming thrown in. So now for the questions:
Does that power supply have enough to handle all of those hard drives and a dual core cpu ?
How does the system look overall?
Would a Pentium D serve me better since I am going to be compiling and encoding ?
How are the Matrox hard drive these days ? Its been a long while since I've gotten new hard drives.

Why so much HD memory? Make it two HD's and get a better video card, maybe save some power consumption :s and Seagate is the way to go with HD's..

at max the draw is going to be under 400 watts

close to 20% safety margin is good enough

though for video compression you may want 2x1gbs

the best price was the patriots 2x1gb 2-3-2-200 for 199 at frys

but that sale might be over

That seems like overkill doesn't it ?

<sigh>

Quit looking purely at the total watt rating. It is very misleading. You need to look at the amperage rating on the rails (in particular the 12V) and also examine efficiency and voltage regulation specs. All <insert wattage here> power supplies are NOT created equal.

Get the best you can afford. Seasonic is a good choice but if you can afford it - go for the PC P&C units.

the enernmax is one of the cheapest psu's that meets the dfi nf4 requirements

if it can fully power the dfi, it can power any other nf4 board perfectly

Plus the p180 case from another site since newegg is out. And the DVD -/+ R dual layer I already have. So looks like this is it so far. What does everyone think ? are there better deals out ther ? (yea I know I might get it cheaper through pricewatch and small rinky retailers but I want the fewest number of people to deal with)

Why the hell do you need to meet DFI specs. I am running a HTPC on a 250Watt PSU. Do you think they recommend that.

IIRC DFI specs say you need Dual 12V Rails and what not. BS. Im running an OCZ with one big 38A 12V rail. Their specs are recommended.

Another examply, how many people went out and bought the recommended 680Watt PSU when SLI first came out.... not many.

Just get a nice 400Watt PSU.

Does the mobo/cpu combo I have picked need a 24pin power supply ? Because I think I am going to have to move to an atx12 powersupply wich I don't think that enermax is. oh well

None of them do. YOu can use a 20 Pin PSU in a 24 Pin Slot. Or if you for some reason aren't comfortable doing that simply get an adapter.
