The issue I have with the OP is that it supports the notion that there is somehow a difference between murders by citizens and murders by illegal immigrants. I have seen no statistics that suggest that illegals are more likely to commit murders than other people in impoverished communities, and, to be honest, murder is murder. Demonizing illegals specifically for committing murders encourages people to adopt counterproductive stereotypes that can make negotiation about illegal immigration more difficult than it already is. Some illegal immigrants commit murder but that does not mean that illegal immigrants are inherently evil.
On the other hand, I think Newt's suggested reform bill is a good idea (though its not exactly a revolutionary idea). The fact that we don't check criminals for citizenship is pretty ridiculous.
