Enlite 7237 - is it OK for new AMD 1000 Thunderbird?

I am currently putting together a system for video editing and am going to use an AMD 1000 Thunderbird as the processor. I have recently seen posts alluding to certain power requirements for AMD chips. I have an about 2 year old Enlite 7237 case with a 250 Watt power supply that I was planning to use. Anyone know if this will be sufficient? Any help will be appreciated.

Check on the AMD webpage too see if your PS is suitable. 250 PS should be ok, but most people here well recommend a 300W at least. If you have to get a new PS, make sure its AMD approved, don't skimp out on a cheap PS either...

Your ps will work fine as long as its an Enlight/DTK oem unit and not a surplus generic switched from another case. The kt133 boards don't have the stricut ps requirements of the amd750/751 boards.

I'm typing right now on an AMD Tbird 1ghz Enlight 7237 w/ 300 W, you might as well try it and just get a new PS if its not sufficient.

i have the enlight with a 400w PS and a 1ghz chip..works fine

It really depends on what else you are going to put into the box. For video editing I assume you will have one or more large capacity hard drive(s), plus a video capture board. These will all add to the power requirements.

I would plan on upgrading the power supply just to be safe. You can try it with the old one, but be prepared to get a new 300W+ supply if things are not stable.

I'm runnin at 1GHZ from 700MHZ with an Enlight 7237 and Enermax EG-451P-VE power supply. I want a bigger case, but my chippie is extremely cool.

I'd spend the money for a nice new power supply. The money will be well-spent if it saves you a crash that takes down an hour or two of hard work! 🙂
