Sushi warning as patient found with live worms writhing in gut

In the latest incident a 32-year-old Portuguese man was left in agony for a week after eating slices of raw fish from a Japanese restaurant.

When doctors put an endoscope - a long tube with a camera - down his throat they found a mass of writhing white larvae burrowing into his gut lining. After the worms were cleared out using a special kind of retrieval net, the man’s symptoms quickly cleared up.[/quote}

Worms and parasites are incredibly common in fish.

If you eat fish you're definitely going to be eating a few worms.

If you eat raw, unfrozen fish you're going to be eating live worms and viable eggs.

I'll post some videos if you like?

*Worldwide*

So how common is trichinosis in countries with actual public health systems? I'm seeing 20 cases in the USA per year, in a country of ~320 million that's practically an infection rate of zero.

I don't know how people can eat that garbage. I know full well that it may have parasites. Why would you risk having this in your guts?
