OH MY GOSH THANK YOU! I am so grateful to read this post. English Muffins KILL my stomach, but no other bread products have that effect. I thought it was just me until I saw this post. I have no idea why this happens with the English Muffins , and I'm super curious about it. For me, it also happens with other brands of English Muffins, not just the classic Thomas. I'm so glad I'm not the only one. You make me feel less crazy.
Is this for real or satire? I suppose real. Well, there's your answer, likely a syndrome that's not unique to the O.P. I imagine that there are other related food items that could cause digestive issues for affected people.OH MY GOSH THANK YOU! I am so grateful to read this post. Regular or sourdough?
I used to make my own, I suppose both kinds. Never had a problem.

Oddly enough, they do the same thing to me! I should really dig into the ingredients to see why it happens. But it's easier to just avoid them LOL.
1. I can't eat store-bought ones, like Thomas' or the ones from McDonalds on a breakfast egg sandwich. I get SUPER bad acid reflux from them too!
2. I make no-yeast, granulated yeast, and sourdough dough breads. They don't bother me at all.
3. I make these cold-fermented English muffins, no issues: https://www.seriouseats.com/no-knead-english-muffins-recipe

There seem to be 2 versions of english muffins that I have seen. 1 (like the recipe you linked) uses corn meal. The other uses farina (or semolina), which is what Thomas' use. Maybe you have some sensitiviy to farina?
