I hate that interpretive stuff because on one hand they say to interpret based on your opinion but on the other hand they have their own interpretation as the "right" answer.

They call that "Humanities" here.

Fall quarter, I read:
The Iliad
Genesis
The Euthyphro
The Apology

This quarter:
Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics
Saint Agustine - Confessions
Dante - Inferno

Next Quarter:
I'm too lazy to check the book list right now, but one of the books is a Shakespeare play.

On top of that, I have several other books to read for EuroCiv (I had to get 12 books, 9 of them old books/letters. The other 3 are text book/book of excerpts from other texts)

I had philosophy class that I bombed for that reason. Liberal Arts are soft and very subjective! Luckily I had a hippe native american Vietnam vet as an English Prof....Thank you AP exams!!!

I'm actually on my fourth year of college, but I'm going to be here for a total of six years. I completely wasted two years bouncing between electrical engineering and pre-med, then finally decided that I didn't want to deal with any technical science stuff anymore so now I'm in Business. The reason I'm only taking English 112 now is because I'm a transfer student, and the English classes we had at my old college were really weird so they didn't transfer, so now, after four years and having already written lots of essays and research papers, I still have to take ENG 112 :(

But you are older than me; I'm 21 :)

Lol... All things being equal, I don't think that reading is bad. If I were an English professor, I'd assign something, anything by Slavoj Zizek just to get these sort of responses out of students ;) Fear not, I don't plan on entering academia.

ah i see. yea i had to take Expository Writing as a required course my freshman year. I dont know why ECE majors have to know how to write critically... after 3 C's i dropped the course to take at a later semester. Well I never got to it as coursework kept on piling up in subsequent semesters and before I knew it, I was having a chat with the Dean because I'd never taken expos and wasnt gonna be able to graduate with my class. Luckily he let me walk on the condition that I take an equivalent course from a local community college and transfer the credits that summer.

Took it at the community course and not only was it waaay easier, but I actually enjoyed the class because the teacher was nice, the other students were cool, and the reading material was pretty interesting

I've read Salman Rushdie (for pleasure). Usually his books starts off with 100 pages of jibber-jabber. If you can dont give up on them, and actually go into the "meat" of the books, they'll be the most rewarding thing you'll ever read.

who knows...this hippie feminine book might be the same

But this weird stuff does count?

Elucidate waterbug 14.2 brethren. Plums nurture the bruised water-fat of the Canon Digital Rebel XT. Lust abounds amid abstract filibustering.
