first person: I/me
third person: he/she/name

objective = fact
subjective = opinion

First person objective - I am 21 years old.
First person subjective- I think the sky is purple.

etc etc?

Is this for English or a philosophy class?

I liked it when Peter Griffin started narrating his life:

"I walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table. I looked with a grimace at the questionable meal Lois had placed in front of me. Of course I'd never tell her how disgusted I was with her cooking, but somehow I think she knew. Lois had always been full of energy and life, but lately I had begun to grow more aware of her aging. The bright, exuberant eyes that I had fallen in love with were now beginning to grow dull and listless with the long fatigue of a weary life.
I woke several hours later in a daze."

:D

I think you got the first/third person part right, but not the objective/subjective part.

I talk to you. "I" am the subject, "you" are the object.

I think you just confused me.

oh no, i think right now you're talking about sentence structure, i'm not.
i'm talking about subjective/objective narration, whether people give their opinion/feelings or just state facts/statements...

Heh, I may have confused both of us. You probably were closer than I was.

My thinking was this:

Grammatically, the subject of the sentence is the "thing" doing the "verb". The object of the sentence is the "thing" which the verb is being done to.

John fucks Shirley.

John is the subject of the sentence as he is the one doing the fucking.

Shirley is the object of the sentence as she is the one getting fucked.

I was thinking something along the lines of narrating the story from the point of view of the subject as opposed to the object. I fucked Shirley, as opposed to John fucked me.

Maybe I'm wrong though...

There is a GREAT book out called "The Art of the Short Story" if you don't already have a copy I highly recommend checking it out at your school library for a few weeks and read the sections that relate to your course syllabus. The book has saved my ass on a number of occasions this term.

ermm...it will take too long for me to explain and i'm lazy.

let's just say that art is about observations and our opinion of these observations. things that we usually observe are objects, once it is in an artists mind, it becomes subjected. so therefore can art ever be objective? i don't think so, even a photograph is subjective.

just google art and subjectivity / objectivity.

i'm sure you'll find some articles on it.

if you have any questions on it, feel free to PM me.

I'm off to bed for now. good luck in English lit.

My grammar is horrible. :)

Indeed. Think of subjective as subject to one's opinion. :p

That part above where someone didn't know subject/object is not the same as subjective/objective hurt my head a bit...I need to lie down.

Uh, subjective and objective do have the definition of meaning relating to the subject and object, respectively.
