Yeah, well we have David Beckham. Take that Euros. Best part is we don't even want him.

Soccer and Rugby you can have. Come back when you can beat us at something we actually care about ;)

USA and Japan both suck.
England and Australia are both 2 of the top teams in the world (they came first and second in the last world cup).

The Aussies annihilated the Japanese, and in theory England should have done a similar thing to the US, rather than barely winning, since it's top vs bottom and top vs bottom.
It's like a major league team vs a lower league team in both matches, only with England vs US it was more like they were in the same league.

LOL, tell that to some rugby players, see what happens  Also - American football is just a series of ass-slapping incedents broken up by adverising. ;)

Can you imagine everyone suddenly giving up football and rugby and cricket and taking up American sports? Why would they do that? If you want to play the rest of the world at team sports you have to change your own culture, not try to change the other 6 billion of us.

We play rugby? :p

I hear it's like football or something.

isn`t rugby that game.....
Play Rugby with two people, sitting face to face. Decide who goes first, by either counting using a rhyme, or just by counting, one, two, three and putting out either one or two fingers. Whoever wins the finger count, goes first.
The player gathers the jacks in one hand, and gives them a gentle toss to scatter them onto the ground between her and the opponent.
The idea of the game, is to pick up the jacks, one at a time, while, at the same time tossing the ball into the air and catching it with the same hand you used to pick up the jacks. Put another way:

Toss the ball with one hand.
Pick up the required number of jacks with the same hand.
Catch the ball, still with the same hand. The ball should only bounce once.
You start with "onesies", which means you pick up one Jack, then go to "twosies", which means you pick up two jacks, at the same time. The play continues but gets more difficult as you have to scoop up three at a time, and so on.
Continue the game in this manner, until someone succeeds at picking up all the jacks at once, at a single bounce.

Isn`t that Rugby??

LOL, you seem to care, or are you just generally bitter?

You must know you're wrong - pure population will only get you so far, just look at New Zealand.

Its not just the size of the population, but how it is used. Our top athletes don't play soccer or rugby. Its just that simple.

<ugly American>
Who ever said the rest of the world had to change? I'm saying don't brag about beating us by an unimpressive at something we don't give a rat's ass about.

Also, did I ever say we want to play the rest of the world at at team sports? No, I didn't. Do you know why? Because we're American's, we don't give a shit about the rest of the world or your team sports </ugly American>

Oh, and the rest of the world changes to America's ways all the time, not the other way around. Ponder that while you're munching down your Big Mac for lunch ;)

Well of course I know that, but even if some of them did, it doesn't mean the USA would 'crush England like an ant'. That's such a childish bad-loser thing to say anyway.

what is this rugby you speak of?

Let me put is this way:

Rugby = Man's game (lots of male to male action and initmate touching)

American Football = Weak (no man on man action or groping wtf)

;)

fixed.

Yet in American Football they wear body armour because they?re afraid of breaking a nail.

Weak.

If you don't need to wear protective padding and equipment to keep from dying then the sport isn't that tough. The stop and go nature of football allows for far more vicious impacts than the circle-jerk wrestling nature of Rugby.

Sure, and I wouldn't claim such a thing. Someone else did.

But it would surely be far more competitive.

I just did. They begged for forgiveness for their ways, and after granting them it they continued on to the Broadway musical they were headed for. :p

Football isn't a sport I'd watch either. Now, hockey...

They don't wear protective padding in boxing or other martial arts.

Check out youtube for some hard hits in rugby - this was on the first page. Also note the Haka (Maori wardance) at the beginning. Care to tell those guys they ain't tough?

Rich,

True enough in this game, but if England continue to play so poorly, they will be beaten by one of the top tier teams that is playing like they are a top tier team. They are lucky they started against the Americans and not somebody who can challenge them.

 Boxing gloves?

But I do disagree with bunnyfubbles that Rugby isn't tough. It most certainly is, but folks who act like it is tougher than football because pads aren't worn are just as wrong as bunny is for saying it isn't a tough sport because they don't wear pads.
