Standard cider here is about 6% abv, which is stronger than most beers. You can easily end up drinking something thats 8 or 9 percent without realising.

And thats not counting the cloudy shit that tastes like a cross between battery acid, crab apples and dead rat!

huh? why do you guys drink weak ales? Most beers here bottom out at 6%, especially if I'm drinking it. I stick to the 6.5-7.2% range. Or up to 9% some times. "Light beer" is definitely less than 6%, but that's a volume thing that makes them "most beers," but is a very niche style and is a minority of beers, qualitatively speaking. I think 5.5%-6% is very common. Pale ales and Porters and Stouts tend to bottom out at 5.5 or 5.6%, but can be commonly found much stronger.

You can get stronger beers here, it's just no one is going to start drinking those at midday with the expectation of still being vertical and drinking at 2300!

Dunno about that. I bet the bulk of beer drunk in the US is <5%

I never stand in front of the peon coolers where the peon beer is kept. But again, my point was about type of beers, not beer sold.

My beer's 40%-50% alcohol. I like it cooked awhile before it's ready.

Man it would have been really fun to see France v. England.

It would be fun to see England and France re-fight the Battle of Agincourt. But a World Cup game would have been a lot like 8 year old girls playing soccer, ironically though with a lot more players falling down and crying like 8 year old girls.
