Engineering wouldn't be so bad if homework was normal

The content in computer engineering isn't all that difficult if your mind is geared towards that sort of stuff, and so really it wouldn't be a hard or annoying major at all if it wasn't for profs that decide to give 10000x more homework than any other normal department. My current example is having to hand compile C programs, then hand assemble then, then run through the binary machine words on paper to make sure the programs work. About five or so problems of that. Plus another couple hours of work writing****** and RTN descriptions. Due the last day before spring break.

All I have to say is FVCK THAT.

Edit: writing****** is supposed to say "writing <space> SRC and RTN..." Why the HELL does it censor that.

Actually, Id say architecture gives by far the most homework of any major in college. Just go whine to an arch student and see what they say.

I disagree. I worked with architecture students before, and let me tell you, they have it easy. I would have to say EE and CE have the most work to do. Sleep is abnormal. If you are an EE or CE, and you sleep well, something must be wrong.

Having know are few arch students in top 15-20 programs, Id have to say I disagree. They dont get any sleep either. And the grading on their home work is much worse/harder than CE or EE.

Im not sure about that. Walking through campus the Arch building lights are always on, theres always people in there slaving away.

I do fund it funny though, where I go to college they have a library for the education school, one for A&S, and one for Science and Engineering. The education library closes at 10:00PM, the A&S library closes at 12:00, the Science and Engineering library is open all night!

Just kinda funny imo, and also, you can go in there any time at night and there will be many people there. Spring break is next week, so tons of exams this week, I walked by at 4:00AM and there were 30 people in the library, and the same number in the engineering building.

Actually now that I think about it, the ONLY buildings open after midnight are the science and engineering buildings, every single A&S or education building is closed. The music school might be open, I never go down there, but it just sorta speaks to the expectations of how much you have to work that all the engineering buildings are open 24/7.

EDI: oh yeah, the med school is open all night too for obvious reasons, I presume the law school is as well.

Our main engineering building (library inside) is open 24/7 as well, heh.

At least here at my school, we CEs do the most work, followed by the EEs and ChemEs.

I think the BMEs have it worst of the engineers at my school, don't even think we have architecture though. There are some hard A&S majors too, I hear neuroscience is pretty hard, and the physical sciences are also not easy.

For every one hour spent in class, you are supposed to spend 5 outside of class in HW + Studying...
so now if you take 18 credits, thats a 72 hour week...
welcome to college.

+15 hours of job, going to parties at 8 and not coming home till 4 am, and not getting up till 2 the next day recovering.

Where's the time for HL2????

I'm in acoustical engineering, so I get to avoid all of the hardest EE courses, and most of the hardest ME courses. I think the EE/CompE students have it hardest at my school, but I've never heard of anyone having to compile machine code by hand in any of the programming classes. Maybe they do that in computer science in compiler design classes or something, but that's just crazy for an EE course IMHO. :eek:

I really want to get into the engineering field, but I honestly dont think I have the brains/will to make it through all that school.

Looks like I'll be a technician until I finally figure out my life.

That sounds worse than when my Ochem prof handed me 6 proton nmri readouts and told me to figure out what they were using only book reference material (no computer software) and write about 10 pages (total) explaining why.
