Engine replacement

Im looking for information on how much it will cost to replace the engine in a 91 toyota cressida. A friend of mine has recommended a local shop and says they charge excatly what the mechanincs repair handbook or whatever says to charge. He says that once before he looked up the info and found the prices to be the same, but can't remember what website he found it on. Does anyone have any clue how much this is going to run, or of a site with such information?
