I picked one up for a friend, trying to get it set up is a royal pain in the rear. I have to believe there's a problem with the device, but I don't want to return it to Newegg for a replacement only to have the same thing happen. Basically here's what it does
I tried setting it up using WPS, he had an Actiontel something or other DSL wireless router/modem combo. It looks like they connect, the light that's suppose 6to turn solid orange does. But the router stops working, if I ping a site I get maybe 15% replies. So I reset both and attempted to set up it up manually. The instructions are pretty straight forward. I went into the TCP/IP settings (win 7) like they said and change the ip to 192.168.1.10, and to connect to 192.168.1.2 to configure it. Doesn't work and when I do an ipconfig it's showing 192.168.0.2, but I can't connect to that either. I tried disconnecting the wifi & the whole time the extender was hooked up with an ethernet cable.
Anyone have experience with this unit? I'm wondering if the problem isn't in his laptop. I know there's a possibility the extender's not compatible with the router, but I should still be able to connect to it's web config.
