I checked their site, they seem to specialize in colored diamonds? I really don't want a yellow/red/blue/whatever stone, I'm looking for a flawless white/clear more traditional diamond, thanks for the suggestion anyways though :)

1. I had a choice between a very good 1 ct or an average 1.4 (ish) diamond and I chose the 1 ct. To me, if it doesn't sparkle when you look at, who cares how big it is?

2. I've heard nothing about this and neither has my fiance. Fancy engagement ring/plain wedding band for us. The only "trend" here in NYC is 2ct's and up.

2cts? You're kidding right? Who in the hell could afford that, except maybe if it's a cz or something. As is this thing is going to cost me an arm and a leg, and even though that doesn't really bother me I can't imagine going much higher in price, and not getting in trouble for it later.

3/4 probably. quality is not noticeable unless you're studying the diamond with a loop. mine is about that size and is of that "lesser" quality (compared to other options we had), but everyone says it sparkles magnificently.

i've never heard of such a thing either. i just got married (end of march), my cousin just got married, and a bunch of my friends just got married. unless you're kirsten cohen on the OC or a millionaire's wife, chances are you have a simple band. believe it or not, my engagement ring is white gold but my wedding ring is yellow gold. i wear them both on the same finger. people say it's somewhat unusual for the gold and "silver" to be mixing, but ultimately think it's kind of nice looking. i do too. :)

I'm still looking at the 1/2 level, only because I'm very picky about quality. I looked at a few in a local shop today, obviously I couldn't see any cracks or inclusions or anything just by looking at them, but side by side the higher quality diamond did look a heck of a lot better.

I updated the main post with the two options I'm looking at now, I'm very likely going to go with the princess cut and the channeled diamonds.

Well, thanks for the input everybody, just took the plunge and bought the thing today, went with the 5/8ct Princess cut of much higher quality :)...you'd be surprised how hard it is to fork over $1500 for something so small, I feel like getting really, really wasted and forgetting that I just did it.

i felt guilty for wanting a ring that was $1000 but then he said he was buying a tv that was like $1800. At least I would have the ring forever!

Never underestimate the power of a 60" screen. I told my fiancee I wanted one, she asked why, and I said "5 foot boobies." Then I had to explain that it'd be for watching the "home movies" that we would be making, and how hot she'd look on it :)...I thought it was a pretty slick answer, but it didn't work.

Don't get so sucked into the DeBeers hype. I'm still kicking myself for buying a "perfect" stone, instead of larger imperfect one. The whole idea is retarded in the first place. Getting sucked into spending so much money for jewelry is just insult to injury. All other women are going to notice is the size. They don't carry jewelers' loops to check for flaws when your wife is waving it around. Just buy a huge one with good color and be done with it.

My fiancee's engagement ring cost 10x more than her wedding band. The wedding band does have diamonds, but they look more like... salt.

My fiancee's engagement ring cost 10x more than her wedding band. The wedding band does have diamonds, but they look more like... salt.

I think mine ended up 14x more than the wedding band, but who knows.

I wouldn't call it unique, but it'll certainly be memorable in that you'll be reminded of your retarded idea to buy that ring every time you're ridiculed for it for the rest of your life. :)

My wedding ring will cost about that much, but it'll be titanium.
