Engage- NASA starts research on real warp drive

"...spaceship's aft pooping freaking nuclear explosions..." 😀

Hurry up NASA. I want to fly to another star system before I die!

"and the proper acceleration is zero. When you turn the field on, everybody doesn't go slamming against the bulkhead, which would be a very short and sad trip."

Bonus points for no Inertial dampers needed.

I wish the people of Earth would realize there is no future in fighting. Imagine the possibilities if everyone in the world could work together towards an amazing feat of human achievement.

Seems very very optimistic. Warping space/time and needing 500kg of exotic matter? Im guessing the exotic matter they are referring to is anti matter and they can't get a pinhead size amount of anti matter with current technology.

LOL! Go smoke more pot you dirty hippie! 😉

Agree, but will probably never happen. Too many people believe in their respective dieties and other objects of obsession.

You mean bail out banks, state governments, federal retirement account holders (AIG), car makers and pay for people to fuck and have 5 kids from 5 dads, pay for lazy people to eat, etc, etc.

Drop in the bucket compared to military, medicare, and social security spending.

Really? Conflict and warfare has brought and spurred the most human development. Without it the human race would be living like rainforest tribesman.

Look at WWII, we go from using biplanes to jet fighters in less than a decade. If we had more big, global wars we'd be further ahead than we are now. Fighting cavepeople is the problem, we just develop ways to kill more cavepeople rather than advancing a technology and creating a counter technology for it.

If you can't get peace on a playground, you'll never get it on a global scale. Human nature is the problem.

If only it were as simple as anti-matter.

It's actually stuff that effectively has negative mass and thus produces negative energy.
But yes, negative energy has actually been observed, not sure about negative mass though.

Well, it may refer to matter in strange quantum states, or he could be talking about zero-point energy too.

The point is they're going to try to see if these principles exist in nature, and then duplicate them on a larger scale.

War brings out creativity, but a lot of resources go into destructive creativity. Space exploration is 100% beneficial creativity.
