"...Sans contract, you'll be forking out $700."

What sort of crack would someone have to be on to get that over an iPad 3? If I were running Samsung, I'd give up on even trying to make tablets, and just save resources for making iPad screens. Trying to do it themselves, they lose either way. They'll either be selling parts in a package with their name on it for less money than parts in a package with an Apple logo on it. Or if they price their own products for maximum profit, the price sucks in comparison to the iPad. Why bother? Does a giant conglomerate like Samsung really need their piddly slice of the tablet market so desperately? Or is it worth striking out time after time just to put losing products out there as calling cards that simply say "Look, we're hip too! Don't forget about us!"

Jeebus $700 no contract. Sounds like this product is going to blow away the iPad 3 like what the Xoom did!

But seriously, whoever sets the prices for these tablets at VZW must be either super arrogant or likes to have product sit in inventory for a long time.
